5 minute boost...baby steps to a more organized home!
Well, I've done a couple of 15 minute stints today, how about you?
Things around here are starting to look better, dare I say looking good, provided no one opens a cabinet, or the fridge, or looks under any beds! That can only mean one thing: it's time to boost our beautification and get to tackling those places we'd rather just forget.
I call them my "5 minute boosters" and the goal is to do one or two a week. Why not one a day? After all it is only 5 minutes right? Well, I have three little kiddos and if I think I'm supposed to do something everyday and I fail then I'll feel miserable about it. To prevent those miserable feelings I'm setting my standards a little lower, a little more realistic.
What can you do in five minutes that can change your home?
- clear out the refrigerator
- take the "junk" out of the junk drawer
- remove the old "pin-ups" from the fridge
- shred old paperwork
- toss out expired medicines
- update your address book
- straighten up the pantry
- get the trash out of your car
- toss out old magazines
- get the empty shampoo bottles out of the tub
- refill soap dispensers
- rotate the food in the freezer
- change the sheets on the bed
These are just ideas. Make your own list of things that you put off doing or avoid all together. The next time you have 5 minutes (waiting for the water to boil) grab your list and do one!
Housework doesn't have to be an all day bore! Most songs are less than 5 minutes, pick one of your favorites and clean out the junk drawer. When the song ends your done for that day.
**it's odd how once this catches on everyone starts doing more to keep it neat from the start!**
